Description

Janet had a sudden epiphany...and she let go of the magic amulet. She had truly enjoyed her life in all of those forms. There was no way she would be unhappy as any of those things. However...Janet wouldn't really be happy. Instead, Janet would simply not exist at all. Instead, a new person named Janet would take her place, and that new person would be happy. Janet wondered if this made sense. Surely all of these amazing people, soldiers and teachers and cheerleaders and idols would add more happiness to the world than one "normal" girl, right? But, in her heart, she knew it was wrong. She knew that her true self would never truly be happy. An immense feeling of despair began to grip her heart. If becoming someone else entirely couldn't make her a happy person, what could? Would she be doomed to feeling small, inadequate, and unhappy her entire life? But then...hope shined through the darkness. She didn't need to become a new person to be happy...she just had to be proud of herself. She just had to enjoy being who she was, rather than forcing herself to disappear entirely. If the world couldn't be happy with Janet Doe, then so be it! She'd prove to the world her worth. If she wanted to make friends, she just had to be friendly. If she wanted good grades, she'd just have to work harder. If she wanted to be a nurse, or an idol, or a soldier, all she had to do was work her hardest to complete those goals. She didn't need magic to become pretty, she just had to look in the mirror and accept that she was beautiful the way she was. Janet Doe was not simply an anonymous, average person like she herself believed she was. In fact, she was the only Janet Doe in the world, and that was something to celebrate! She didn't need a new life really...just a new outlook on it. The magic amulet had taught her that. She considered casting it away, but decided to keep it anyway. She would never use it to create an entirely new life for herself. Instead, though, she could use it for fun! It was fun to try out all those different things, and since she kept her memories from those forms, maybe she could use it to guide what she wanted to do in the future. Still, Janet was now simply happy to be herself. Janet's new life had now finally started, and she was sure she'd be happiest this way.
